I paid $399 for it. It arrived in perfect condition. It has an quasi-industrial feel to it. The surface is textured - it eliminates fingerprints all over the outside. The machine runs as expected. There are not a bunch of ads or free software junk on it either. Monitor has nice brightness and minimal glare. Nice machine for the price. However, this is a great laptop for the price. I have not seen an i3 processing computer as low as this. I got this laptop to replace my top end Sony Vaio; although, this laptop does not have the features of my Vaio, this is a great product in terms of processing speed.

The design for this laptop is pretty good. I was a bit surprised by the height of the laptop when the lid was down. I thought it was going to be thinner than my Sony Vaio, but it was not. This laptop is also slightly wider than the usual 15.6" laptops. This is most likely because it has a numeric keypad. Although the texture of the laptop resists usual scratches, you can still see some fingerprints. The screen itself looks great as well.

Turning on the laptop takes about 14 seconds. There is not a lot of junk softwares that are installed in the laptop. Some unnecessary software/advertisement that I saw were for Netzero internet, and some financial software. This laptop includes Norton Antivirus trial and Microsoft Office 2010 trial. In Office 2010, you can use word and excel but it has advertisement on the side. The rest of the softwares you'll need to install. The speaker volumes are pretty good and loud for listening to youtube or watching hulu.com. However, using premium headsets would be better if you want to listen to various ranges.

Some cons:

I exchanged the first laptop that amazon sent me because it was heating up rather quickly compared to my Vaio. The fan would blow out hot air very often, and the fan would make a whining noise. The area where I rest my palms to type got very warm as well. The new one that I get seems to be similar. It does not blow out hot air as often but nonetheless more than my Vaio. I'll admit, taking it out of the box I was a little disappointed. The casing is a textured dull black and feels like a cheap plastic to the touch. But, once I turned it on, I decided to keep it as the screen is incredibly clear and bright (which was a pleasant surprise as I was trying to hold out for a laptop with LED- this has LCD), setup was easy, pro-loaded software was great and overall everything runs very smooth. In researching the processor prior to buying it, this Intel is very highly rated to be in a computer at this price point and better than the processor in any other budget laptop I've been able to find. It comes preloaded with the Toshiba book reader program (essentially Kindle for your computer), Norton 30 day trial and basic Microsoft office. The 10 key on the keyboard is also very nice to have.

Runs very quietly as well, I can barely hear the fan even when it's on. It does turn on and off somewhat frequently, but it's so quiet I don't notice anymore. Customer Reviews
